Following the very sad loss of Martin Whitley from the Recycled Racehorse Display Team last month, our committee discussed how best to honour his memory and his contribution to our show. It was agreed that the deposit of £500 paid for his planned 2026 appearance will be treated as a charitable donation, with his wife Philippa able to donate it as she sees fit.

Martin with one of his many beautiful birds

Martin and his team brought immense joy to our visitors over the years, combining his love of country life, falconry, ex-racehorses, and country sports into unique displays that captured the true spirit of the countryside. His passion, humour, and dedication made every performance unforgettable, and his loss will be deeply felt throughout the country show community.

We know that everyone involved with the Dauntsey Festival of Transport & Country Show, from visitors and volunteers to sponsors and fellow exhibitors, will share in our appreciation of the happiness Martin brought to so many. His displays will continue to be remembered fondly by all of us.

As part of our tribute to Martin, we will continue to support a wide range of good causes, including those that champion mental health awareness and wellbeing, in his memory. Supporting these causes reflects not only the values of our show but also the spirit of kindness, care, and community that Martin represented.
