Strengthening Our Commitment: Signing the Armed Forces Covenant
At the Dauntsey Festival of Transport & Country Show, the community has always been at the heart of everything we do. From supporting local charities to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for visitors, exhibitors, and volunteers, we believe in giving back wherever we can. That’s why we are incredibly proud to announce that we have officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant and have taken the next step by applying for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Bronze Award. This is more than just a milestone for the show, it’s a reflection of our values, our connections, and our ongoing commitment to supporting those who serve, have served, and their families.
What the Armed Forces Covenant Means
The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise from organisations across the UK to ensure that members of the Armed Forces community are treated with fairness and respect. For us, this isn’t a tick-box exercise. It’s about recognising the dedication and sacrifices of serving personnel, the unique challenges veterans face as they transition to civilian life, and the important role families play in supporting those who serve. By signing the Covenant, we are committing to being an organisation that actively supports and champions this community, not just in words, but through meaningful action.
Working Towards the Bronze ERS Award
Our application for the Bronze ERS Award is the next step in turning that commitment into something tangible. The Bronze Award recognises organisations that have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, demonstrate a proactive approach to supporting the Armed Forces community, and promote themselves as forces-friendly. For the Dauntsey Festival of Transport, this aligns perfectly with what we already do, and what we’re continuing to build.
A Show with Strong Military Roots
One of the most exciting developments for this year’s event is the expansion and renewed focus on our Military Section. This year, the section is being led by Al, a serving member of HM Forces, bringing authentic experience, passion, and connections to create something truly special. Visitors can expect a growing display of military vehicles and exhibits, opportunities to engage with those who serve and have served, and a deeper appreciation of military history and heritage within a relaxed, family-friendly setting. This isn’t just another section—it’s becoming a key part of the show’s identity.
Our commitment to the Armed Forces community is also deeply personal. Our Chair, Liz, is a military veteran and currently serves as an Army Cadet Adult Instructor, bringing first-hand understanding, passion, and ongoing involvement with the Armed Forces community into the heart of the show. This lived experience helps shape our approach and ensures our support is both genuine and meaningful.
Bringing History to Life Through Music
A highlight of the Military Section is the return of the wonderfully talented Chrystal Bliss.

Chrystal’s wartime and military-inspired performances bring a unique atmosphere to the show, transporting visitors back in time with classic songs that honour the spirit and resilience of past generations. Her performances are more than entertainment—they’re a tribute, a reminder, and a celebration of history brought to life. Visitors will be able to enjoy Chrystal performing at lunchtime in the Military Section, as well as by the wartime tea room tent, creating a truly immersive and memorable experience across the showground.
Supporting Help for Heroes
Our commitment to the Armed Forces community also extends to our charity partnerships. We are proud to support Help for Heroes as one of our chosen charities for the show.
Help for Heroes provides vital support to veterans and their families, helping them rebuild their lives after service. From physical rehabilitation to mental health support and community programmes, their work makes a real and lasting difference. Through the show, we aim to raise awareness of the challenges faced by veterans, support fundraising efforts, and provide a platform for meaningful conversations and connections.
More Than an Event: A Community
The Dauntsey Festival of Transport & Country Show has always been about more than just vehicles, entertainment, and a great day out. It’s about bringing people together, supporting causes that matter, and creating opportunities for connection and understanding. Signing the Armed Forces Covenant and working towards the Bronze ERS Award is a natural extension of that mission.
Looking Ahead
This is just the beginning. As we continue to grow the show, we are committed to expanding our support for the Armed Forces community, building stronger partnerships with military charities and organisations, and creating an event that reflects the values of respect, community, and inclusivity. We’re excited about what the future holds and proud to be taking these important steps.
